SP Jazz Band Open house 2011!!!

August 6th, 2011

Hello! and welcome to SP Jazz band’s first official blog post of the new academic year.

Here’s a recap on the recent happenings just to keep you updated with the Jazz band’s activities. We took part in the 2011/2012 CCA run, happily inhabiting this cosy corner behind the Cafe at Moberly doing what we do best, JAM! and jam we did! We spent half the morning toiling to lug our heavy (and very expensive ;) ) equipment all the way up the sheer cliffs of Moberly (well it was a hill, but it becomes a cliff when you carry a Korg Keyboard and its stand). Even at this great expanse of energy and labor, the Jazz banders are in high spirits, ready to Jam and attract people to our booth (hidden away in the corner). We ran through the entire SP Jazz band repertoire, playing our favorites a couple of times over and having a great time. No amount of Sun and sweat, or lack of fan thereof can stop us!

We were pleasantly surprised by this year’s turn out and we saw quite a few promising applications. All of us are looking forward to welcoming the new year ones to the band :) The second day of our CCA run saw more people signing up for auditions (good sign!!) We are still jamming strong! :D

On the final day of our CCA run, we packed up earlier, anticipating a dwindling number of signees, waiting and waiting… The jazz banders thoroughly enjoyed participating in this major CCA event. for one, we had an official reason to skip *leave* class to play music for the greater part of the day (HOW GREAT IS THAT?!)- not that we are encouraging the skipping of lessons… but we’re saying that you will get plenty of these marvelous opportunities to integrate music (and your passion, if music is your passion) into your school life. For all of us here at the Jazz band, music is more than mere sound. Music a lifestyle and our doctrine. Here at the Jazz band, you will explore music and bring it into your life. Join Jazz band to be a part of this fulfilling experience. :)
